About

The Carolina Princess Program is a mentoring program within the Miss North Carolina Scholarship Program. Each Miss and Outstanding Teen candidate is encouraged to mentor at least one Carolina Princess each year. We have some exciting activities planned for our Carolina Princess participants every year, and look forward to the bonds created with our Miss Capital City, Miss Clayton, and Miss Cleveland sisterhood of titleholders. Please encourage friends and neighbors of your Miss, Outstanding Teen, and Carolina Princess to consider the program as well, as it builds relationships and experiences that last a lifetime. During orientation, the Carolina Princess and her parent(s) will also receive details of the activities planned and the expectations for them at Miss North Carolina in June if their Miss or Outstanding Teen is crowned on March 2, 2019.

Fundraising

Fundraising in our community is how we support our scholarships and continue to grow the program for these young women. Each year, we recognize the leadership skills shown by our Carolina Princesses through on-stage award for the most fundraising by a CP. We have two major methods provided for obtaining this award:

Program Ads

  • All Miss and Outstanding Teen candidates and Carolina Princesses are encouraged to sell ad space to their community sponsors and supporters. Ads should be submitted electronically for publication in the pageant program. Ads can be emailed to carolinaprincess@misscapitalcitypageant.com. The deadline for receiving ads is 5:00 pm on February 21, 2019. Ads will be sized according to the space purchased.
  • Ad prices for sponsors and supporters are as follows:
    • $100 for full page   $60 for half page   $40 for quarter page
      • Parents of Carolina Princesses may purchase ads at half of the prices listed above.

Raffle Tickets

  • All Miss and Outstanding Teen candidates and Carolina Princesses are asked to sell raffle tickets. This giveaway is very popular each year, as there are multiple chances at winning. Winners will be drawn at the pageant, although they do not need to be present to win. Please be sure to record a name and phone number on the tickets provided so that we may contact them if they are not present. Prizes for this raffle are a Coach purse, a new iPad and an MHR jewelry set.
  • Raffle ticket prices are: $5 for 1 ticket or $20 for 5 tickets.

Carolina Princess Program as a Local Titleholder

If your Carolina Princess’s candidate is crowned, they will have the opportunity to fulfill the duties of a titleholder’s Carolina Princess at the local level.

Carolina Princesses may be required to attend “Work Weekend” along with their titleholder, pending confirmation from the State Committee.

  • April 2019 in Greensboro for Miss titleholders
  • March 15-16, 2019 for Outstanding Teen titleholders

Participation in the Miss North Carolina Scholarship Pageant week comes next, in June 2019 in Raleigh. There may be additional costs associated with Work Weekend and the Miss NC pageant, and more information will come from the state program after our crowning in March. Carolina Princesses will also be expected to attend events and appearances with their titleholder throughout the year, building the mentor relationship and skills through the sisterhood.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What attire is needed for the pageant?
    • All Carolina Princesses will need a full length white dress and the costume for the CP production number.
    • At the Orientation Meeting, we will discuss what is needed for the CP production number.
    • Please label ALL of your child’s items with their name, this will make it easier to identify backstage during and after the pageant.
    • Hair may be any style. Please remember that they will receive a tiara, and hair should not be styled in a way that we cannot place the tiara on their head. Carolina Princesses will have the same hairstyle during the entire pageant. We will not be doing hair or allow hairdressers backstage.
  • Will I be able to attend rehearsals?
    • All rehearsals are closed. No parents will be allowed inside the auditorium during rehearsal. We will have a brief introduction at the beginning of rehearsal to cover logistics and answer any questions. You may wait in the lobby of The Clayton Center or visit one of the many restaurants and shops in downtown Clayton. We will bring all parents into the auditorium near the end of the rehearsal to record a video of the choreography so the Carolina Princesses can continue to practice at home.
  • Who can come backstage on the night of the competition?
    • No parents are allowed backstage before or during the pageant. When arriving on pageant day, there will be someone to meet you at the backstage door to check in your daughter and take her things backstage.
    • At the conclusion of the pageant, you will need to immediately come backstage to pick up your daughter and her belongings. No males will be allowed backstage at any time. We will have chaperones to escort the Carolina Princesses at all times.
  • What if I would like for my daughter to participate, but we do not know a Miss or Outstanding Teen candidate?
    • This is not a problem, we will be happy to pair your Carolina Princess with a candidate so that she has a strong mentor in the program.
  • When is Carolina Princess registration due?
    • All information, payment, and headshot should be turned in by the Orientation Meeting on February 10th, 2019.
  • How can payment be made for the registration fee?
